Visa Medicals (Overseas)
A visa medical is a mandatory health examination required as part of the visa application process for many countries. The primary objective is to ensure that the applicant is fit to live or work abroad, protecting public health, preventing the spread of disease, and confirming that the applicant does not pose a health risk to the local population. Our expert team delivers visa medicals that comply with the health standards and entry requirements of each specific country.
Further Information
Visa medicals are required for individuals seeking to work abroad. The specific medical requirements are determined by the destination country’s visa regulations and the nature of the applicant’s work. Companies may also have additional criteria that applicants need to meet.
Upon arrival, the physician will review your pre-medical questionnaire and conduct a comprehensive visa medical assessment based on the requirements of the country to which you are applying. This typically includes:
- Physical Examination: Assessment of respiratory, cardiovascular, abdominal, neurological, and musculoskeletal systems
- Vital Measurements: Height, weight, blood pressure, and vision tests
- Urinalysis: Sample collection and analysis to check for health indicators
- Blood Tests: If required by the destination country, a blood profile will be conducted
- ECG: Electrocardiogram to assess heart health (if required)
The appointment typically takes approximately 60 minutes.
- A Qualified Occupational Health Technician or Registered Occupational Health Nurse will assist with the assessment
- A Physician will conduct the examination and review the results
- You will receive a comprehensive report that includes the results of all tests conducted
- The final report is typically available within 5 working days after your appointment
- Photo ID (passport or driving licence)
- Eyewear, contact lens solution, and hearing aids (if applicable)
- A list of current medications
- Medical records relevant to any existing conditions
- Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before travel to allow time for additional testing, documentation preparation, or addressing any health issues
Comfortable clothing, activewear, and trainers
- Each country has unique health check requirements, which may include a physical exam, blood test, urine test, chest X-ray, or stool sample. Verify the specific requirements with the relevant authority in your destination country before booking your appointment.
- Start the visa medical process as early as possible. While blood results are usually available within 5 days, some tests may take longer. Vaccinations, if required, may take several months to complete.
- Check entry requirements with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office at least 8-12 weeks before your planned travel date. Ensure that your passport and travel documents meet the requirements of both your destination and your transport provider.
